UPCOMING MEETINGS & SPECIAL EVENTS
Our October luncheon speaker is retired FBI Special Agent, Mike Stapleton. Mike will be conducting a presentation concerning his work with the FBI’s Disaster Squad of forensic identification specialists who assisted state and local authorities in the identification of the remains of individuals killed during the volcanic eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Skamania County, State of Washington, on May 18, 1980.  The presentation will provide an overview the FBI Disaster Squad, before and after eruption photographs, eye witness accounts, procedures that were used to identify the victims, and interesting facts about the eruption and its aftermath. You can find additional information on Mike and the many interesting cases he has been involved with by visiting our Speakers page. Sir Frank Wnuk will host a docent-led tour on a repeat visit (June, 2015) of Christ the Light Cathedral located on the northern end of Lake Merritt at 2121 Harrison St on November 9th starting at 10:30 am.  The Cathedral has won over 32 awards for its utterly unique design fusing Catholic tradition and 21st century technology. This tour is limited to 18 Sirs and guests. Afterwards, a lunch at Laney College's Culinary cafe is also being planned. Please join us for our last regularly scheduled luncheon/meeting of 2017 at The Bridges on November 15th. Our November luncheon speaker is accomplished author and historian, Bill Yenne. Bill has authored over 30 books and will provide a detailed account of the Flying Tigers - a group of American pilot volunteers that flew for the Chinese against the invading Japanese empire in the early days of World War II before the US officially declared war against Japan.
