PARK CITY UTAH - 2017

This was about the 13th year in a row for the group to go to a major ski area in the western United States. Chuck McCormick did a great job, as always, in organizing our trip.  Our group is growing: we had 28 people this time including spouses and friends.

We had four condos at the Snowflower Condominium, which were right on the slope at bottom of the Village.  This was very convenient for ski out and returning to the condos.

We had several inches of new snow the first day, so the powder hounds were in heaven.  As usual, each condo took its turn cooking for the group, and evenings were filled with good food, wine and good cheer as we enjoyed each other’s company.  During the day we enjoyed  skiing, snow shoeing, shopping, soaking in the outdoor hot tub and relaxing around the fireplace.  Park City has now been joined to the neighboring Canyons Resort by a gondola, so many of us took time to explore the whole huge area.

On our last evening, we ate dinner together at Buona Vita Ristorante Italiano in the historic old town section of Park City.  Much thanks goes to Bob Maddox who spent many hours locating a restaurant that would take reservations for 28, and allowing them to use separate checks.  Bob did a great job in finding the Buona Vita.

Before packing to leave on our last morning, Dennis Wygal again treated us to his fabulous pancake breakfast with bacon and eggs.

This is such a fine way to end another amazing winter trip together.  Again our group wants to thank, Chuck, Dennis, Bob and everyone who brought good cheer and hard work to make our 2017 trip so much fun.

In 2016, the 12th year in a row, the SIR Branch 128 Ski Group traveled to a major ski resort for a week of fun and friendship, this time: VAIL, Colorado.  Our group was led Chuck McCormick and Bill Buhl, who did a wonderful job of arranging our Condos and organizing transportation.

There were 23 of us on this trip, in four different condos, all within a short walk of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and right in the heart of the Lionshead Village.  As usual, each condo took its turn hosting a dinner party for all. Each night was filled with lots of laughter and good conversation, while the days were spent exploring Vail’s vast array of runs and bowls in small groups.  Kudos to all of the great skiers of SIR 128!  The camaraderie and friendship formed at these events is very special.

We had great weather.  Vail is a huge mountain with a wonderful village, which was enjoyed by all.  Our annual night out on the town, was again arranged by Bill and Judy Buhl, who did a fine job of locating a restaurant capable of hosting a group of our size.  The dinner at the Chophouse Restaurant was truly a special evening to be remembered.

Again, thanks to Chuck and Bill for all of the hard work that went into arranging this event.

This was about the 10th year in a row for the group to go to a major ski area in the western United States. We had 18 people this time including several spouses. The 3 three bed room condos were right on the slope at Top of the Village. Very convenient for ski out and returning to the condos. We found beautiful weather all week with just a few light snow flurries until the last day when the snow began to really fall just as we were leaving. The temperature was in the high 30's, just comfortable. We got together in different condos each night for a hosted dinner with refreshments and visiting. Everyone enjoyed them selves so much we have 100% sign up for next year at Park City Utah. The group was lead by Chuck McCormick. Chuck did a wonderful job of picking the location and the first class condos. They had a pool, hot tubs, and exercise facilities. We used the hot tubs but I didn't see anyone using the tread mill after skiing all day. They also provided shuttle service on call to travel to other locations around the Village. Our final evening was held at the Westin Hotel where we had cocktails and a great dinner.
