San Francisco Presidio Tour, Wednesday, May 25th

On Wednesday, May 25th, a docent led City Guides tour is planned for one of California’s Historic Landmarks, the PRESIDIO of San Francisco. From Spain, to Mexico, to the United States—The Presidio has been home to more militaries than almost any other fortress in America. It is a sprawling, fortified estate strategically located at the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. In 1994 by act of Congress the Presidio’s status as an active military installation came to an end, and it became a National Park in 1996 under the Presidio Trust. The park has many wooded areas, hills, beautiful homes, and scenic vistas overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean.

The tour will start at the Officers’ Club at 10:30 am, and last for 2 hours. The cost is $15 per person with a maximum of 16 participants.

Lunch is planned at Café RX in the Tides Converge building near the end of the tour.

SF Anchor Brewery Tour-- Saturday July 23rd

On Saturday, July 23rd, the SIR Special Events Committee is planning a private  tour and beer tasting at the historic Anchor Brewery in San Francisco.  The Brewery dates back to the days of the Gold Rush and was founded in 1896.  It is located in a beautiful art deco style building in the Protrero Hills.  Anchor Steam Beer owes its deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich  distinctive flavor to  a historic brewing process like none other.  You will learn about the history of the origin of its name, and the original practice of fermenting the beer on San Francisco's rooftops in a cool climate.  In lieu of ice, the foggy night air naturally cooled the fermenting beer creating steam off the warm open pans.

The tour will last 1 1/2 hours, and you will be able to taste their distinctive beers.
The cost of the tour is $20 per person, cash payable at the start of the tour.  Maximum of 25 participants.  The tour will start at 11:00am with lunch available  at their tap room provided by Frank Grizzly's after the tour.
