CAROLANDS MANSION HOLIDAY TOUR-TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10TH
In September last year, some 26 SIRS members and guests enjoyed a memorable afternoon touring the Carolands mansion and grounds in Hillsborough. The 46,000 square foot chateau was designed by a pre-eminent French architect of the Belle Epoque and built in 1916 under the direction of California architect Willis Polk.
The property was bought and restored in the 1990’s by Charles Johnson, principal owner of the SF Giants, and now belongs to the Carolands Foundation. Typically only open for tours by lottery once a week, the SIRS group enjoyed an unforgettable private tour of the estate led by two enthusiastic docents.
On Dec. 10, SIRS members and guests can again tour the mansion and estate, this time with it decorated for the holidays. The tour is scheduled at 1:00 pm, and is limited to 40 persons
