About our Leagues...
League Setting for 2024
Our primary Fantasy Football League (started in 2010) is a "head-to-head" league which has an admission 'donation' ($75) which goes to a prize pool. This leagues is called SIR 128 $$$ League. This money league typically consists of 12-14 teams. If demand exceeds that size, we will consider creating a 2nd $$$ League. The league schedule corresponds with the NFL schedule with the first 14 weeks being our "regular season" followed by the playoffs in NFL weeks 15 through 17. This ensures that all our team players will be on the field if they are healthy avoiding the final week which typically sees some NFL teams "resting" key players. Teams make the playoffs by being one of the best 8 teams in the standings after week 14.
We also provide members a points-only league (SIR 128 POINTS League). A minimum of 6 teams is required to form the league. We had 8 teams in our 2023 league. If we have more demand by members, we may create several leagues. This league, SIR 128 POINTS League, is active the entire NFL season. The points teams earned each week accumulate as the season wears on . A modest prize pool to keep things interesting was established - $25 per team with the entire prize pool going to the top 3 teams when the season is completed. Consider it a kind of intermediate league for FF "rookies" or yet another option for experienced players to enjoy.
We will continue with our SIR 128 BEGINNERS League, which is a slimmed down version of our POINTS league with a more limited roster size (less effort to maintain) and NO donation to a prize pool. It's all about getting a chance to experience fantasy football without any risk!
Our group uses Yahoo Fantasy Football which allows you to draft your own players or let the system draft for you. Our draft is usually scheduled about 1 week before the 1st game of the year. Many members have the system do their picking so you can see great expertise is not a requirement. Knowledge of football helps, as well as, staying on top of who is playing week-to-week. Bye weeks can be a killer if you aren't paying attention.
